Dentures
Full and partial dentures, fitted properly and adjusted until they are comfortable.
A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth, made from acrylic or metal. It can replace anything from a single tooth to a full set, in one jaw or both.

Full and partial dentures
A denture replacing every tooth in a jaw is a complete or full denture, usually made from acrylic. One replacing some of the teeth is a partial denture, held in place with clasps that limit movement while you eat.
Beyond eating and speaking, a denture supports the lip and cheek. Without that support the face can look older, and people often tell us their confidence goes with it.

Partial dentures stop the other teeth drifting
When a tooth is lost, the teeth either side of the gap tend to move into it, and the tooth above or below can drift down or up to meet the space.
A partial denture holds everything where it should be, which protects the bite you still have.

Common questions
At night, before bed. That lets the gums rest and keeps the mouth healthier.
Gum and bone shrink after teeth are removed, quickly at first and then slowly but continuously. When a denture becomes loose it needs relining, which means adding a new fitting surface, or remaking. Most last seven to ten years before that is needed.
One fitted straight after the teeth come out, so you never go without. We take moulds one to two weeks beforehand, the technician makes the denture, and it goes in as soon as the teeth are removed.
You keep it in for the first 24 hours, then start taking it out at night. Because the gums and bone shrink as they heal, an immediate denture usually needs remaking six to nine months later.
